SUMC Communication Team

The Simpson United Methodist Church Witness Ministry gives attention to developing and strengthening evangelistic efforts and sharing Christian experience, faith and service. The Witness Ministry consists of the Lay Servant Ministry, Evangelism, Lay Leadership and other means that give expressions of witness for Jesus Christ.

Lay Servant Ministry are active and supportive members of the congregation who are eager to be in ministry through the church. They are well-informed on scripture, doctrine, heritage, organization and life of the United Methodist Church and committed to witnessing through church and community leadership. Our Lay Servants are willing to initiate ministry in partnership with clergy and other ministries and willing to improve their skills for service to God and His people. They serve in many ways: visitation, leading a study, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, sending out church or personal prayers volunteering to clean, go on a mission project, or preach at a worship service. They also care, lead and communicate and encourage, equip and support others for deeper commitment to Christ and to faithful discipleship.

Evangelism involves several key actions: telling the good news, announcing the kingdom (reign) of God, and bearing witness.
They exercise their passion for the Word to bring hope to those who are in need through door to door solicitations, visiting shelters and participating in community days. More importantly, they have a team of prayer warriors who are on call 24/7 to answer the prayer needs of the entire congregation. They also visit the sick and shut-ins and send cards of encouragement.
